EHCP support

My DS has had EHCP in place since November but it's taking a while to get support in place. He has funding for 9 1/2 hours a week but is supposed to have 17 hours, school are supposed to fund rest. Speech therapy and OT advice are supposed to come out of this as well. School say be is being supported by vTA and teacher, he gets handwriting support every day from ta apparently. However TA and teacher are there anyway so I'm not sure his money vis going directly with him? Is this right, do I have right to complain. DS tells me a different story anyway about what support he's getting.

Some posters here will have more experience, but I think it is down to whatever is specified and quantified in the EHCP. If they are not delivering they are in breech of their statutory obligations. I would make a list of what is specified and ask the school to confirm that they are consistently meeting the requirements.
IPSEA and SOSSEN will help.

It really depends on how closely specified this is in the EHCP - e.g. does it say he should specifically have 17 hours 1:1 support? Are SALT and OT specified?

If it is properly specified, you should ask the school to explain precisely how it is being provided and by whom, and if the answers are not satisfactory raise this with the LA as it is their responsibility to ensure he gets section F support. If you can't sort it out you may need to consider threatening judicial review - there is information about it in the Judicial Review information sheet here - www.sossen.org.uk/information_sheets.php

I heave similar issues with basically the school saying they're doing the support and dc saying otherwise. I keep a diary. I have literally just brought the AR forward and spoke to the LA requesting a case officer attend. I am waiting for the full outcome but at the meeting it became clear that schools interpretation of the EHCP was not what the LA (or me) interpreted. I think you need to log it with the LA straight away if you feel concerned, I tried speaking to school and they take no notice, but you will need a meeting with the senco first. Get a paper trail going. Sadly it's all too common for funds to be used elsewhere rather than on dc if you're not on their case. You're not being unreasonable and you need clarity.
