Concerned for Son

I am very concerned for my son who is two and half year old. He doesn't walk independently but can walk with holding my hands, holding sofa and other things. His been doing this for 6 months now, every time I let go of his hand, he instantly sits down. He cannot standup by himself either. Is there any exercises I can do to encourage him to try to stand up? Or exercises that will help him walk without support.

He does not do the basic stuff like waving goodbye even though I have shown him a hundred times how to do it. He only says three words. Has been obsessed with doors for a year wanting to swing them back and forth. He stands in the road looking at cars flapping his hands while I am trying to take him to nursery. Moving cars on roads make him very happy that he wants to stand and watch them.

His under specialist care but still developing very slowly. Physio says he will walk when he is ready as physically there is nothing wrong with him but this is frustrating. His got global development delay. I don't know what to do now as there is little improvement.

Hi

What exercises have the physio suggested for you to try?
What has the speech and language therapist suggested?

If he enjoys watching moving cars can you find something similar to use as a lure to encourage him to do the things you are encouraging.

eg does he like moving things generally, a moving toy initially on a low table that he is motivated to pull himself up to see (and play with?), then move to a location that he has to move along the furniture to get too, before putting it in a location where he has to take one step to get to, and then two steps etc.... If motivation is the only problem, and no physical/developmental issue with walking, your solution is then getting the right motivator.

Every little bit a progress might take hard work and patience, but it is worth it!
