Hi folks

Just wanting advice really as unsure what to do.

DH works fulltime mon-fri 8.30-4.30. he is home for 4.50 we have dinner as a family then i leave for work at 5.30pm home for 11.15pm.

We have 3 sons, 1 @ 5 and 3 yr old twins.

DT1 receives midlle rate care DLA, DT2 receives High rate care and high rate mobility.

We don't claim carers due to our hours at work.

We have loads of hospital appts to attend to with the boys and are both considering giving up work to concentrate on the boys.
I am concerned as I don't know what benefit and how much we would be entitled too. Would we get any because we have left jobs?

PLease help if you can

Jambuttie

hiya jambuttie.
We are in a similar situation to you.
DS has AS and isnt in school, DD has CP and a provisional dx of ASD.
We too have tons of appointments, the only thing that has stopped DH from leaving work up to now is because we get DD,S nursery fees included in WFTC.

However, its becoming increasingly hard to parent both children especially if one is off ill (like dd today) so we have decided he will come out of work in september.

IIRC because we are in a HA house then we wont pay rent or c.tax and if we both claim carers we get an additional amount on top of income suupport plus child tax credit.

I telephoned my benefits office and they gave me the number of an advice line, they told me everything we would be entitled to.
I think most councils have them on their website.

Hiya

Yes hubby and I self reffered to social services as we were at crisis point. The boys were also being assesed for the SN nursery.

At the time the children in the nursery were more profoundly disabled than the twins( as advised by nursery assesors/staff)so they got no place.

The rep from disability team also said they were happy that the boys had a stable home with both mum and dad having an input in their care therfor felt no assistacne was required from SS .

DH sufferes bad depression and I also am on medication for depression.

We have now both written our notice to work to try and consentrate on the boys upkeep and hozzy appts, I am now really worried however on how we will manage financially, but as long as my boys are happy thats the main thing i think!!!!!!
