A thread I read on the Chat board has prompted me to post this.
A friend of mine & her family have invited us to join them at Alton Towers for the day. DS2 (5 soon) has just been awarded middle rate care DLA & I thought I'd heard somewhere that this entitled one of us to accompany him as a carer. But having checked the website, I am confused.
Does anybody know what documentation/other proof is required to get a carer in for free, or if we'd qualify? He has symptoms of autism, but no diagnosis, nor do we have any letters stating suspected autism. They all say e.g. communication delay or motor skills delay. He doesn't have an EHCP, we are currently applying for one. He does get funded hours (full time) at school. He has no blue badge.
We've been to Alton Towers a while ago & he loved it, so I know he'd love to go back & if we all have to pay full price it would still be worth it as all the DC would enjoy it. Thankfully, he is not too bad with the queueing if there are lots of us to chat to each other.
Thanks for sharing any experiences
