What medication is he on and at what times is he taking it? Does he take it over weekends as well?

What age? I've spent years trying to work out what behaviours were due to ADHD, what was a medication side-effect, and what was down to hormones. I guess every time it was a combination of all three.

ADHD meds doses need to change often as the child grows. He might be due a review. I'd get in touch with his consultant for some advice.

The other thing to consider is the timing - the end of the day, coming down from his meds, knows he needs to control things at school or he will get detentions and then he gets home and the frustrations of the day come out in a 'safe' environment as attitude.
Can you and he talk about it on the weekend, from the point of view that it is a problem for you both and how can you both solve it?
