My phones been turned off do to me using the same socket for my printer. Turned it on today to find a message from the LA.

They want to discuss my daughters view that PP took last week - that will be the bit I guess where she asks for help for dyslexia and how she needs more help with all of her work!

They want to check when her eye and hearing tests were last done? None of their bloody business !

They also want to hold another meeting with us? Why ? What is the point? Could it be because the case progression form is due today and that's one of the questions on it?

I can hear my phone ringing again downstairs.....

Then she rang again 10 mins ago saying that the case progression form due today so its ready for me down the office and I can come and collect it - you can imagine my expletives to the bloody phone and its ringing again - that's twice in as many minutes - go away, leave me alone and just bloody agree to a statutory assessment. I am not backing down no way and no amount of meetings wasting my time is going to get me to back down so poke off and leave me to sort out my case and caring for my 3 kids!!!

Sorry I needed that rant...........

Once again, it's their duty to send it out to you, either physically or electronically, not for you to go and collect it.

Do you have an answering machine? If not, it might be a good investment, right now.

"I'm afraid I am not available to take your call, just at this precise moment in time, but feel free to leave a message, and I'll decide if I can be arsed to talk to you"

If you feel like getting a dig in, it would be worth pointing out that all the person hours they're spending in meetings and consultations and in hand delivering those things that the good old royal mail can handle for a tiny fee could probably have covered SA, by now.

Well they came and knocked on the door at 5.08pm - I ignored it and curtains closed. I had emailed then half an hour earlier and told them not to come to my house so they've ignored that.

Any the case progression form was in the post box and this is what they are saying now-

They are offering a further meeting for parents to have an opportunity to continue the case as it progressed. Want to discuss points in pupil views info re reference to bullying and to confirm no issues re hearing impacting on ability to spell! They say they are happy for a hearing on the papers alone. So that's that really. They are now trying to find reasons why she is so behind and dyslexic I guess. No one has ever raised the issue if hearing and I have no concerns either. Clearly the fact she has issues with maths and reading as well must be down to maybe some unknown hearing issue.

It because it's dyslexia and LAs really don't have a clue when it comes to dyslexia.

I would follow your own advise when you had pre-Tribunal meetings with LA over DS last year... Turn up. Listen to what they have to say. Tell them you'll let the Tribunal decide.

As an aside, they really are on dodgy ground hand-serving all this stuff. The LGO is just about to weakly and insignificantly pull up my LA for hand-serving stuff because it's poor administration to do such a thing.

The thing that puzzles me about them delivering the documents in person is that they have to be with the LA on the same day, so surely they must have been ready to post, yesterday? So they can't even claim they're rushed off their feet and couldn't get them in the post on time. It's a deliberate attempt to wrong foot you, isn't it?

Unless, of course, they've simultaneously got a junior hot footing it all the way to Darlo :o

I did email them at 4.30pm ask what they wanted to speak to me about the views for. Told them we had already discussed hearing/eye tests at the meeting 2 weeks ago. Also asked them not to keep hand delivering stuff and pointed out that they had the same deadline with tribunal and they were able to serve the documents on the tribunal without the need for personal delivery.

Re the meeting I said I would like an agenda for any meeting and to know the purpose as I'm happy to attend any meeting if it is helpful for my daughter but won't attend a meeting where is it just to tell me yet again they won't agree to assess as I get the message - was very polite in the email, didn't say I wouldn't do anything but just wanted to ensure meetings have a purpose. I think it's also a fishing expedition to find out what I am up to as I'm keeping myself to myself.

I also managed to email the case progression form to them as well without any great issue so god knows why they can't do it for me as well.

Many LAs are iffy about emailing confidential documents to unsecure email addresses, so I can understand them not emailing to you.

Ouryve - LAs normally get round that by password protecting everything. My LA emailed a lot of stuff with passwords and a lot of stuff without passwords. The fact that the password they used was either my DS's date of birth or my son's surname didnt occur to them that this was an inappropriate password Hmm

Oh dear they are not very organised, that's probably good for you though as they won't know the case nearly as well as you. Perhaps you can implement your persistent / unreasonable contact policy and ask contact to be no more than once a week and in writing only Wink or by pre arranged phone calls. Say you are too busy with your caring responsibilities to deal with so many unscheduled calls and visits to your home. If you met them two weeks ago I would decline another meeting. If they don't understand your child's views or what could be the cause of her difficulties they should do the assessment. I don't think it's unreasonable to say weekly home visits, tel calls 10 mins apart and biweekly meetings is an unreasonable demand on your time for an authority that claims to be certain they understand your child's needs so well they have no need to assess them further.

Put a sign on your door saying 'No Junk Mail', 'No Idiots' then next time they roll up point to the sign whilst looking at them meaningfully.

hopefully they will now scurry away until the next deadline for all evidence to be in although their form mention that all their evidence 'to date' has been served which makes me wonder what else they might be bringing out in a few weeks time - ah well, time will tell. im hoping ive shut them up now and I will be left alone. I think my being bright and breezy at the coffee morning yesterday has got them thinking but my lips are sealed and we will see what the appointments over the next few days bring.

You, babiki, and Keep need to start a support thread for those currently forced to engage on another planet.

Me too star- tribunal in a couple of weeks - never done a refusal to assess one yet - the NHS OT did put it in writing about my son needing a statement, wonder if it will be a game changer, and have a dx of dsylexia to go with the other dx's - nothing left for him to dx with now I don't think in terms of spld's and adhd and asd.

All is quiet today, no response to my email from yesterday or a constant phone ringing although as dh pointed out it all seems to starts just after 2pm as he leaves to go to work and just before the school run so time yet! But seriously I think all will be quiet now until the final submission deadline. We have salt tomorrow and OT on Monday doing assessments so they should be interesting. Clearly their concerns re bullying and lack of progress due to not having a hearing test clearly are not as important today as they were yesterday to the LA.
