Hello
Posted recently about a meeting at my son's new school which went well.
Have annual review at beginning of June.
Don't want to ruin a good relationship with the school but do want my son's statement specified and quantified (which it isn't at the moment although school are providing full time 1-1). His statement is for 25 hours.
I basically want it for insurance.
Also, was told at the recent meeting I had that he wouldn't have direct SALT but would have an assessment and given a programme to follow.i presume this will be by his LSA. Not too happy with this as at his last school, had weekly SALT with a qualified therapist.(I know we were lucky to get that).
I was told by the autism services lady ' this is how it is done here, nobody gets SALT directly.'
I want SALT to be included in educational needs but how do I approach this at the AR when I have been told how it happens here.(FWIW everybody keeps telling me this is a really good borough for SEN and not to move out of the area) so I'm wondering if I'm being unreasonable wanting SALT when my son is verbal, has good receptive and relatively good expressive language skills but at the end of the day he has autism and his language is not where it should be so to speak.
His statement has not been changed since he was 3 and he is now 6 so obviously needs amending.
Are my requests reasonable (to you lot), obviously won't be to the LEA I imagine!
Thanks
