What a difference a school makes

Ds has had some really awful experiences at ms schools, was permanently excluded due to his disability, and I fought to get him in a specialist placement. He has only been there a few weeks and at first it was really hard for him and I was beginning to doubt whether I'd done the right thing.
This week he has won the Star Pupil award . We had a chat with the staff and they are all so positive about him and have such high hopes for what he can achieve there that it's just fantastic.
There is no more waiting for the 'phone to ring with the school threatening exclusion or asking us to collect him as 'it would be best'. No more meetings where they say they've implemented things but really haven't. No more saying 'of course we want him here' when they really mean 'of course we want the funding'. His lessons are now fun and he can learn without being being removed from the room because 'he's a distraction to the other children'.
He can socialise through doing activities such as horse riding,bowling, cycling,climbing. None of these would have been available at the previous school - they didn't want him to go on the end of term trip as it would have been 'too stressful' .
I am so proud of him.

Aw. You're right to be proud of him but make sure you're also proud of yourself. We all know that these achievements don't just happen by magic.
