ASD and muscle tone

DD age 3 is currently awaiting assessment for possible ASD.

She is both under height and weight for her age and very petite.

When in the throes of a meltdown myself and dh have noted her strong muscle strength. She becomes so rigid and can tighten her muscles (I.e clamping her legs together when trying to change her nappy) so much that its physically impossible to move or restrain her.

Yet when she is calm her arms and legs seem almost floppy.

Is this something we should raise concern over? Im unsure if it could be related or if its normal? Any ideas?

Doesn't sound worrying, but I'm sure it's worth mentioning. I thought it was going to be about low muscle tone or hyper mobility, which is sometimes co morbid with ASD. When you say floppy, do you mean almost 'double-jointed?'

My son has asd and hypermobility, I find he is very strong when displaying challenging behaviours yet his muscle tone is poor when he is trying to do things, e.g using fine motor skills, his posture is poor etc.
