I took my 4 years old DS for his first one to one swimming lesson today at our local pool. He's already been in a pool a few time at school and teacher said he's ok in the pool. I want him to do it on a weekly basis, but i am wondering how long it will take for him to known how to swim? Anyone with any experience of this? Thanks.

My ASD DC did not find it difficult at all to learn how to swim, they started lessons at 4 as well. They had lessons with our local swimming club as it was more disciplined and quieter than the public lessons. Both could swim 10m without aids in a couple of months. They really enjoyed it so stayed having lessons up to their Gold badges.

Swimming still is their preferred sport. It is repetitive and predicable and the most you have to interact with others is the changeover in relay races Grin.

Thanks creamteas, I am please to hear that. The swimming teacher was unspecific when i asked her. She sounded as if it was going to be really difficult.
