Are we on the path to Aspergers?

Hello. I have posted here sporadically in the past about DS's various problems.

We have just had a second appointment with an ADHD specialist, who feels that DS (almost 9) does not have ADHD, but a social communication disorder. She is going into school to observe him in January & has referred him to SALT.

He also has sensory issues - the doctor said the SCD can occur in isolation, but can it when there are documented sensory issues as well?? She also asked about repetitive behaviour - to which I said not really (in an obvious sense) but both school & my MIL say he has.....I almost feel like I can't be objective anymore.

Have to post & run but any advice will be very gratefully received.

Thanks PolterGoose - I will order the Attwood book.

At home I would say his 'symptoms' would be quite subtle, it is at school where the majority of hs problems lie.

However we were buying new shoes this evening. It was obvious he was anxious about it (he had to choose which pair he wanted) when he was walking, his gait looked odd & he sad he didn't know why, couldn't help it. His voice also was more monotone. The pair he chose were the ones with 'sport' written on them. Why? Because he would be riding his bike in them.

Is this relevant? Friends & family would say it is DS being DS.
