Dd had a verruca. She's had it a while and we were putting bazuka stuff on it so we didn't have to apply plasters. Dh had over applied it the one day he helped so she had a big circle of dead skin. Dd is making such a fuss whenever I try to file the dried gel away so today I got cross and pulled it.

The big ring came away fine, left a ring of new (tender) skin but the centre of the varruca was raised and looked like that would come away, so I saw an end to the nightly trauma of having to file her toe.

So I pulled.

Looked fine for a second, the verruca had come away. Then the bleeding started. Dh (a medic) thinks it was a small arterial bleed. He managed to stop it and bind it up.

Then he reminds me that dd is in a dancing show and has to dance every day for next 5 days :-( I'm feeling so Sad Sad Sad

Ooops. Well we all make mistakes! How painful is it? Will she be able to dance? I guess not? Maybe some humble pie and a consolation trip to the cinema or somesuch? At least the nightly bazuka trauma is over!!!!!!

Dont panic! You can get cushioned toe/finger protectors in Boots or another chemist. Just put a little bit of gauze around the area incase it weeps but the cushion should make it dance worthy :)

Mariemama - he should take some of the blame! given the choice between an ambulance technician and a blind person with one working hand (and not the dominant one!) Who should have been performing the "surgery" Hmm

She danced this morning without complaint!

Phew! Grin

(have also butchered myself removing a verruca and couldn't walk properly for a few days.... But it looks like she is made of tougher stuff than I am)
