son with adhd - progress in Y2

Hi I have just had a meeting with our son's new teacher to review his IEP.He has calmed down a lot since Y1 but very worried about him because he struggles a lot with concentration. I'm feeling really anxious that he will just slip further and further behind. He takes medication but it does not help his concentration (it is a non stimulant) Classmates books are full of maths and writing and he produces hardly any work. He is so hard to work with at home. Refuses to do homework and just wants to play. I don't want to get tough as I feel this will just make him more determined not to try. Is anyone else in this situation or has been in the past?
