well there are 16000 cops now in london and allegedly it is all quiet. My niece had a near miss with her housemate in Bristol last night. They went cinema and it all kicked off when they were in there. Poor girl had to walk home to where they lived around the back streets. Just missed the main riot start by 5 mins and the burn down of a macci ds. She got egged by a passing car which scared the life out of her and is now too scared to go out the house.

I am just thanking my lucky starts I dont live in a City. It must be terrible for those that live in them.

It started because the police opened fire and killed a man who had a fire arm, a protest stared by family and friends, started peacefull and then all this kicked off, i think most of these youths and looters don't even know why it all started, its just an exscuse to damage property and loot .

It appears to be organised looting now. I live in Kent and all the surrounding areas or anywhere with a high street have been looted.

Wake-up call - lots of you live in 1 of the most exciting cities in the world - tons of free stuff to do. It was exactly the same for previous generations. Cities like London, Manchester etc have always had a real gulf between rich and poor - it should be an inspiration not an excuse. If you can, graft your way out of the situation if you don't like it.
That's where my SN head comes in. If you want to talk not being listened to, frustrations at not being understood, far less opportunities to achieve and a much harder route to get there - In fact far more choice limited youth - what about our DCs. Any of yours out there looting?
Grrrr - rant over. Partly because I have very fond memories of Reeves Corner when I was a teenager. Hope they still call it that after the shop is pulled down.

too true auntevil, obviously the disaffected theiving gits had unsuitable class names at primary, should have been more . . . inspiring. People were just out for what they could get, total disruption of most high street shopping places, it has nothing to do with the man that got shot any more. I'm rather hoping the Reeves were insured and can rebuild, could see the glow from here as well as the smoke from Enfield yesterday.

my dd is disadvantage , unlistened too , but depite her sn depite being a young carer when im ill , shes an altar girl , helps out at brownies , and bakes cakes for people, and she suffered serious emotional abuse (now resolved , the bitch left him),dissafected youth what load of rubbish.

Hannah - you're right. It makes me seethe when so many people rise to the challenges set before them - none of their own making - and achieve success, which I don't believe can be measured in £s and plasmas. It must make them seethe too when they see these excuses. Stealing is stealing. Violent thuggery is violent thuggery.
One of the worst images i saw was the 'youths' who seemingly went to help a lad up that had been attacked - and then stole from him. They had every opportunity to do the 'right' thing. They chose the 'wrong' thing. the lad was no threat, they were not caught in a mob - running scared - they are mindless thugs and thieves picking on the vulnerable. No 'excuse' can justify that behaviour.

Hannahsmummy I am also out of touch - although caught up a bit last night after embarrising myself in the hairdressers (took ds when quiet after usual closing) by not knowing it was young people (ds' s age) involved!! Thanks for the catchup. Shops were putting up defenses or closing early even in our small area.
I felt useful and part of the community as a young person - we managed an elderly neighbours garden, I played in an orchestra and choir, and helped in various community and church projects.
Thuggery has no excuse. There are fare better things to do!!!

as a parent of an sn child i constantly get the blame despite always putting dd first. I deffinatly blame the parents of these "DISSAFECTED YOUTHS ". I am sad about the racism that is happening on face book etc. ones skin shade has no connection to ones behaviour . my dd best friens family is black and is the most close , hard working polite family i have ever met.
