Hi,

My DS has been referred to the Community Paediatrician via GP as per the Ed Psych recommendation. I am excited and very nervous at the same time!?! What should I expect from this 1st meeting? Any advice would be appreciated. x

I had to give a full history of developmental stages, take the red book if you still have it or makes lots of notes to take with you. She asked about the history of his behaviour problems (she knew he was suspected ASD), asked about his medical problems. Did an ASD questionnaire which was basically asking me loads of questions, half of which left me stumped! Very difficult to think and give an answer. She spoke to my son and asked him to draw a picture. She did want to weigh/measure him, but he was non compliant by then after an hour delay for the apt and then being "bored" while us adults talked. Took about hour and quarter and son got really fed up in the end, there were no toys or anything to distract him with so i would definitely recommend taking something for him to do just to be on the safe side.x
