i wrote about two months ago about my 4.6 yold ds- since then i have been to the dr's and he has been referred to camhs (although no appointment has arrived yet).
i am a teacher and since my son was tiny he has been fussy/sensitive= hard work. i have often thought he was on the a spectrum. my father and brother have undiagnosed asperges- both extrmely clever, very rich but very eccentric and odd!
my son has/had things that he does/did that have worried me..favouring red food, lining cars up, not being able to play with others, not knowing his colours, not liking loud noises, disturbed when another child cries, yet unaware that people and animals feel pain/ have feelings...lots of things really.
he has also had violent outbursts and if routine is disrupted will become hyper and uncontrollable. he has never slept all night adn fears being alone in his bedroom.
depsite all of this- it seems to have reached a head about a month ago and now seems to be improving?? he seems calmer and is beginning to play by himself and be more friendly. he has also started eye contact with me.
could it have been a testosterone surge that he had?
do children with asd have plateaus? do they peak and trough?

I think certain situation's can make them worse or better, handled correctly my little boy does very well and can appear quite NT handled badly and he go's off the wall.

I don't think it's that the ASD gets milder just sometimes we manage it better so it doenst seem so bad.

thank you- i wonder if "things" make him trigger more?
i do think that if he lives in a calm quite mundane world he is much easier to manage adn handle-any exctement or change and its hyper mode!
am off to look at the above links.
thank you so much.
