Do these have to be agreed by me (as a parent) or should I at least get sight of them?

you should have input, sign and receive a copy. And of course the iep should be SMART.

Thanks for the information ladies. DD entered reception on SA+ and nothing is in place as yet. About to send a letter to the SENCO....

We had an IEP review in June which we did not agree to because it stated eg. ds will count to ... and success was ds will count to ...

A copy was sent to us even though we did not agree to anything.

2 weeks ago, at the IEP review, which was supposed to be held early October, we agreed 3 targets with the teacher (out of 5)and I still haven't seen it. I found out that the teacher was working on February's IEP as she did not have Junes's.

My point being - you can have the best IEP etc but it does not mean anything if no one works from it. I am sure this year's TAs have not seen the IEP before the meeting.

Bigcar - I have a copy of the SEN Code of Practise but as far as I can see it doesn't state that the parents MUST be given the chance to provide input, agree targets etc.

We're basically in the SA process, just been refused again even after pointing out errors in their initial decision. I am deciding whether to appeal at this stage so am gathering paperwork.

keepyourmouthshutox - I understand exactly where you are coming from and it is an effed up situation, but at least if it is in place and I can show it is not being followed, might help with the appeal/any future request.

The over-arching guidance given early in the SEN COP is that they should waork in partnership with parents.

Inviitng parents to assist in the develeopment of an IEP is part of that partnership
