I'm in the PTA of DS2's special school. We are trying to think of new ideas for fundraising. In my experience, special schools have more problems with involving parents in fundraising - partly because they are already snowed under dealing with their child(ren) and also because most children get school transport they are less involved with the school and less likely to know what is going on. Obviously catchement is much wider and many parents find it hard to travel to events / get babysitters etc. As I understand it, in the past, events like summer fairs etc have not paid off, so I am trying to come up with less labour-intensive suggestions.
Does anyone else have any experience of successful fundraising ideas that have worked for their special school? I'll tell you what we have done successfully in case it helps anyone else: Band evening (local brass band), Quiz night, Bag2school, Easter egg bingo, jumble sales (though Bag2school is easier).
