Advice on Secondary School place

Hi, my first thread on here and not sure if this is the right place to ask.

I have a DS starting secondary school in September. Last night I received an amended copy of his EHCP and it has named my second choice on it. Does this mean that my first choice have refused him a place?

My first choice is the school where I work, both are mainstream. My school is a better one with good staff and facilities to support him and I would be able to supervise him on the journey as he could come in with me. He doesn't have any road sense and needs a lot of watching when we're out and about.

Would it be worth going for an appeal for my first choice or should I just accept the decision? I will be speaking with the head of curriculum support at work when he's back but just wanted to see if anyone had any advice?

You will need to find out why first and then appeal if you see fit. Your case officer should be able to tell you why your first choice is not named.

I would say you have a good chance of appeal based on your explanation, but yes, first find out why so you know what arguments to give.
