Should the LSW of a statemented child...

... Greet the child in the morning? I don't know if I expect too much but it grates with me that ds's LSW makes no effort to greet him personally in the morning. I just don't feel she has much of a relationship with him. Also, she never reads with him, when comprehension is one of his areas for development. He only reads once a week witb the class teacher or class TA.

Do you mean should she be there when he first goes in in the morning, or should she greet him when she first sees him? If the former, I guess it depends on what the statement requires. If the latter, it presumably happens anyway.

Does the statement specify what the LSW is supposed to be doing, and that she should do 1:1 reading with him? If not, I suggest you try to get it amended at the next annual review.
