i've looked at a variety of mei-teis and now can't see the wood for the trees.

essentially i'm looking for a sling that will suit my 4 month old but also be used by my 18 month old.

i used to have an ergo which i liked but some kind person stole it. now i'm shocked at the price of them and my big boy is quite a back archer when he was in it.

any ideas?

I used a non-stretchy wrap sling, if you live near Oxford you can get someone to show you how to do back-carrying with a 12 month old, I loved it.

I did also have a mei tai which I loved too. I used it a fair bit when my dc we older though - I preferred the wrap for younger babies. They are less complicated then they look and spread the baby's weight so well.

You can go to a sling meet anywhere to learn about back carrying, I just know of someone near Oxford who does courses on it!

Most Mei Tais are much the same, once you ahve gone through your options.
Buckles or straps - I preferred straps as I was used to wraps and felt they were safer than bucklles, but buckles are easier and faster.
Sleep hood or not - would be better for a 4 month old to get a hood so if he sleeps he is comfy
That's about it
Have a look on UK Babywearing swap Yahoo group as they normally have cheap second hand ones. I ended up buying what was available second hand as it saved me making a choice!
