DS nearly 2 and is up and down all the time. We have a SSC that I love but it's a faff to get him in and out. Anyone got any experience in those hip seat things? Which are good? Someone recommended an innoo or hippychick but I've only actually seen one person using one irl!

I had one years ago. I have never seen anyone wearing one before or since. Felt a right prat wearing it, especially when I put my son down. You still need to hold on to them, so doesn't free up your hands. Massive waste of money. They saw me coming..... !

I have a second hand one and I love it. Bought it for dh who hated it, it lived under the sofa until my dd turned 2 and started hating the ssc!
You do look a prat but here's the things I like about it

  • when I'm carrying him I don't feel like I'm constantly trying to convince him to walk, I feel I can walk for ages
  • I keep it under the buggy so if needs must I can carry DS and push the buggy one handed
  • we have the most wonderful todder chats because our faces are at exactly the same height.

I feel like less of a prat if I wear a cardigan over the top and take it off if I'm not actually carrying.

I've wondered if a scootababy would do the same job? But has less of the crucial easy up-down-up-down bit.
