Sling for swimming?

Might sound like a daft idea, but...

I love taking the kids swimming and I thought one way to carry on doing this when dc4 arrives is to put the baby in a sling. Ds1 and dd are 11 and 9 so independant in the water. Ds2 is just 4 and can swim almost 5m without armbands but still obviously very much needs me in the water with him.

I have done a quick googling and such slings do seem to exist but I can't actually find any for sale.

Anyone done this, or am I mad and will forget I have a baby on my front and end up dunking it? Grin

I bought one from ebay but, to be honest, never used it.
The main reason I didn't use it is I was worried what the old biddies in the swimming pool would say about it as they comment on every other aspect of my parenting.
I managed fine holding baby while my daughter swam with float/armbands.
If you want to try one out I would be happy to send you mine for P+P only.
It is one of these:

Why not get a float seat instead? Not the round ones (they are quite unstable and can flip) but the sort with long fore-and-aft sides.

Wow thanks, toffeemum, that would be fantastic. You can email me on s j mackintosh at hotmail dot com.

Ds2 doesn't use armbands so I often need two hands. I am sort of worried what people will say...Blush

I will get a float seat when baby gets bigger :)

I've got a Dooker ring sling which I rarely used. keep meaning to pass it onto someone!

Remember that your baby will get cold quite quickly so swim sessions will have to be short

I had a Sachi water carrier, which was a UV protective solarweave mei tai. It was fab. I used to bung DD in a hip carry, and it'd give me 2 free hands to deal with (then 2yo) DS. Nobody batted an eye.
