Slimming World

Groups are back - nothing beats fat fighters like a face mask in 30deg heat

Motherfucker - 45 mins in my face mask because Jane had to dissect lockdown week by week.

I won slimmer of the week, but fruit baskets are firmly off the cards now. Masks were mandatory which meant I could sit happily through the clapping with a firm resting bitch face. I promised Gill I'd get 3 off this week, and now of seen off the rest of the dry roasted nuts, I might just do it.

Who is back in group and what are we doing this week? I'm particularly interested in people's lunch as my HexB goes to brekkie every day and I need thinspo!

First day back at group was mercifully short, just chatting through the 'Back Together' booklet, didn't even do slimmer of the week and just did a quick shout out of what we wanted to lose this week at the end. To be fair though it was bastard hot and our consultant is very pregnant!

1/2 pound between me and target. Lunch at the moment is a tin of mackerel, a babybel and a big handful of grapes. No appetite in this heat! Once I can be arsed to be in the kitchen for any amount of time it will be salad with cold cooked meat and maybe a few boiled baby potatoes or pasta on the side.

I'm not going back to meetings yet, just rejoined online. Have to say I do not miss that person who has to describe, in minute detail, everything they ate or thought about eating over the last week.
I struggle with lunches too, especially when going back to work and I can't whip up some fancy omelet or cooked meal. I still live by the old school mugshot, mullerlight and fruit salad. That probably shows how long it's been since I first joined - they were all free back then.

I'm not worried about facing group. I think loads of us have been stress eating and then boredom eating and then it's fab weather let's eat everything in sight eating. Our consultant is brilliant and he never makes anyone feel ashamed or embarrassed. We're all in the same boat and can do it together. Also looking forward to 30 minute image therapy which hopefully won't be as dull and draggy as the old hour long sessions!

I could never sit through another SW meeting. Endless discussions about how many syns in a bucket of lager, or why Maureen had only lost 3lb in 12 months when she was eating her bodyweight in jacket spuds and couscous cake, or how Doris had lost 5 lb because she'd got the squits after a dodgy curry. Then there would be several feral children running laps around the horseshoe of chairs, while the parents smiled indulgently. Never again. Online is the way to go.

Children aren't allowed at meetings now.

Is that since Covid? I was always considered a miserable old bag because I didn't think children should be at meetings.

What happens to members who don't feel ready to rejoin their group? Or they can't dye to childcare now etc. Is there only option to have an online membership?

@Groovee I've been taking my EBF baby to meetings since they restarted and no one has told me this?

We've been told children won't be allowed at meetings as that is classed as another head. Maybe the Scottish rules make it different as 2 of my usual class are switching classes to suit.

They’re either not classing a small baby as a person, they’ve decided they’re ok with your baby taking up a space a member could have, the session isn’t full or they’re ignoring the cap on group size they’re supposed to have...

Could be any of those from what I’ve seen people posting online tbh.

I didn't fancy going back to meetings after not sitting in a room with more than one other person since March. The Zoom meetings worked for me. So despite being told to 'put on my big girl's pants' (who started that? I b**y hate it) I joined online. And I can't really see the point. Can anyone tell me how it works for them? Apart from filling my weight in and getting a few recipes I can't see what I'm paying £5 a week for.
