Are your meetings very long?

I joined once years ago but the meeting was so long, it really put me off. I'm reading a lot about SW and would like to give it another try but that is putting me off a little. I know it probably varies from place to place so maybe it's a silly question. Blush

The meetings where I go, are generally an hour, sometimes a little over but rarely any less.
They don't seem to mind if you leave early though, people sometimes leave after half way.

Ours are about an hour but a large group so takes a while. Other groups I've visited if smaller take a bit less. I view it as my time once a week and vital to me loosing all the weight.

I found mine very very long. This was last year. In fact it was the main reason I stopped going, the venue was 15 mins away and by the time I'd be back home it was well over an hour and a half.

I started to find it more exhausting than anything.

The standard for SW is an hour. Whilst you don't have to stay the people that do typically loose more weight and keep it up to target.

Thanks for the replies. I found by the time the leader called out to everyone, then clapping each one individually, it went on well over an hour. I will give it a go again, I think.

The one I went to, weigh in started at 7:30pm and the leader started her talk at 8pm. She would go round the room to everyone, saying if they'd had a loss or not and asking them if they had any challenges that week etc. Often she'd go over the hour and we'd be asked to help tidy away the chairs and tables in the hall, so it could be 9:20 before I got away. It got too much so I gave up .

Weigh in is 5.30-6pm. A few of the regulars run in at 5.50pm then it's 30-45 minutes depending on how off tangent we go.

Ours go on for so long sometimes it's ridiculous! Weigh in starts at 7:30 and it's usually well after 9 before we leave. Drives me mad sometimes as it's either stay for 2 hours or weigh and run, I'd like something in between!

Tonight was ridiculous because Carol and Audrey would not shut up.

OMG.

Weigh in at 7.30. Talk at 8pm. 9.10pm I got home. I wouldn’t mind if Audrey was funny but she’s not. She just talks about herself.

It was like Little Britain on a bad day.

The ones I have been to have been at least an hour, and noisy with it. Plus the same people seem to talk a lot.

I gave up on mime because of this. Weigh-in took about 45 mins, very leisurely. Then the chat seemed to take forever, it was good if you could be bothered to stay but I really needed to be out within an hour to go somewhere else so ended up leaving after weighing in most weeks. Then it seemed a bit pointless paying £5 to be weighed so I quit.

I've not been in a month so been kicked off the website which is annoying. I stopped going because even if you zoom in just at the end of weigh in then there's an hour of talk so plus travel it was taking 2 hrs...so i just went for weigh in...then thought why am i bothering?!

The problem is I'm ttc so i am trying to lose weight before and then hopefully stay on plan during pregnancy and not put on too much, and this is one of the fee diets approved for pregnancy. And you can't do it online, or I'd just sign up online now!

Not too bad but weigh in usually starts as soon as the consultant is set up rather than waiting. We don't do the going round with the pad as its boring and usually just have a topic to talk about regarding weight loss.

Sit at the back and leave after an hour. It's fine to do that!

The original team leader was very fond of her own voice and had her long term favourites who'd she'd let bang on for 10-15 mins then swerve newer members. One week I stayed particularly since I needed advice about an upcoming weekend away. However, she swerved me, so I didn't have an opportunity to ask. A my that 1930 group we wouldn't leave until 2100+. I now go to an earlier group the same day and since the group leader moved on, I don't ever stay: too hungry 🤣 #marjoriedawes

I want to rejoin SW, I’ve found it a much better plan than WW in the past and I do need the discipline of a weekly weigh in, so it’s between those 2 really. Problem is when I worked full time I was limited to evening meetings which always seemed insanely busy: queue for half an hour to weigh, then a ‘meeting’ that was just announcing each persons weight loss and asking them to set a ’target’ for the next week. Went on for ages and MY GOD it was boring. I’ve tried at least 3 or 4 different meetings/leaders and they all followed this format. Found WW meetings much better and weigh in queues generally not so bad, but didn’t like the plan as much. Was hoping as I’m on mat leave to find a morning meeting but there isn’t one near me.

Ughhhh what to do?!?
