Restaurant menu help!

I'm going out for dinner at the weekend, it's for my brother's birthday so no avoiding it! I've accepted that I won't stay on plan, but at the same time I want to make strategic choices that mean I won't put a stone on in just one night!

Here's the menu, any advice??

I was thinking squid, then the duck? Might not have any pudding but if I do, maybe the lemon tart??

How about calling the restaurant and tell them your situation, ask for an alternative. I would tend to go for fish as lower in calories but the truffle oil or the chowder option sort of puts that idea to bed!!! It's not a menu conducive to dieting.

None of the options strike me as obviously SW-friendly ..... but look lovely 😂

Not sure about starter or dessert ..... for main, I'd probably go for the steak, with sauce on the side. Maybe ask for boiled potatoes if I was being good.

But you know what, go & enjoy the meal. You can make good choices the rest of the day / week. One meal won't be your downfall.

It's hard isn't it?! You want to be good but unless you're a hermit it's impossible to stay away from temptation!

You're right, none of the menu is particularly SW friendly, so it'll just be tweaks? Like the scallop dish without the hollandaise sauce. Not ideal but for one night compromises will have to do.

I’d probably do the squid or the scallop followed by the cod or the steak. Or if being really strict and it didn’t feel too antisocial, skip the starter and just have a main. You could ask for any sides off-plan to be replaced by salad or boiled/steamed veg. But you could just enjoy whatever it comes with and try doing some SP days before and after. I’d skip pudding and order a coffee instead. Goodluck.

I would go with the squid and the duck also. I guess you could ask for extra veg for instead of the potatoes if you wouldn’t miss them. Lemon tart probably best of the bunch. The menu looks lovely and it’s your DB birthday. Just go and enjoy. The menu looks fancy so if probably won’t be a huge portions kind of place, which helps!

Ooh I'd have the scallops then the steak then sticky toffee pudding. And loads of wine probably!

But I would be calling it an off plan meal!

I would have pigeon breast followed by the cod , i would either have one gin and slimline during meal and skip pudding and have an amaretto or Bailey's less s yns more fun. The wine is the killer the menu looks ok to me.
