Slimming World

Can you please help me banish my excuses and get some motivation?

Yikes I've got so many excuses I barely know where to start.

I've done slimming world once, loved it! Became seriously ill from something unrelated. Lost a lot of weight in hospital and came off the diet to get back to good health. I've since started stress eating again and I'm just being greedy now and eating way to much chocolate etc.

I keep being about to start up again and doing a good week and loosing a few pounds and then drastically failing the following weeks I just can't summon the willpower. I keep using my busyness, lack of large food budget and fussy husband as excuses to myself. Please help me by letting me know some good tips for getting and staying motivated? I'm at the heaviest I've been despite loosing so much to illness on December/Jan and it's really starting to affect my self confidence.

I keep using a photo of me where I am morbidly obese to keep me from going back. I think about it being a lifestyle change rather than a diet. I can still have treats etc and enjoy.

I do plan. I've had surgery so have used my boredom to search new recipes and it's all going well so far. I find planning really helps focus me attention to stay on track and not turn to junk.

No advice I'm afraid as I'm in the same boat, but just posting for solidarity! It's so frustrating when you can't get into the right mindset despite feeling rubbish everyday

Not sure how to motivate you, but you know it works and you want to lose weight.

If you aren't in the right headspace you'll hate it and fight against it. Maybe buy the mag and see if that sparks your interest
.
There are loads of groups on Facebook which provide support and lots of ideas about meals etc, there are dedicated money saving ones too. So that might help too.

Good luck if you decide to re join.

This poster says it all for me. I've done SW several times over last 20 years and ironically every time I rejoined I've been heavier than the first time I joined! Anyway this time I joined after Christmas at 11 13 lbs on a 5ft 3" frame and a well fitting size 14. I'm now 10 st 2lbs and feeling much better about myself. Not set target yet. Was thinking 9 st 7lbs, though losses are slow now.

If I had any motivation to share it would be just start again every time you feel like you've fallen off the horse. Try to keep meals as unprocessed as possible and cut out obvious sugars. I eat lots of fruit, occasionally some dark chocolate and a glass of wine but other than that no sugar. I'm looking at it as a lifestyle change and definitely not a diet. Best of luck with it, you can definitely do it 👍🏻😊
