Super speed

Hi, coming from old slimming world days, I have been getting back on the wagon recently and have now heard of speedy and super speedy. Can I do just one day of this every now and then to speed things up? If so can I mix or just all speedy on its own, or all super speedy on its own?

Also, can I have eggs? Sorry but I've got old books and its confusing me. Thank you.

I guess you are talking about SP (Speed and Protein) days?

You select only the Free foods that have either S or P symbols. Avoiding the higher Carb free foods, exclude yoghurt, bananas, mangos, potatoes, rice, pasta and so on.

You have an extra Healthy Extra B and still count Syns.

Oh., I see. Thank you so much for replying.

My book doesn't even have 'P' symbols, that I can see. Can I find a list on line somewhere?

Do I have to syn healthy extra 'A's' too?

Am I meant to have no syns on anything else but healthy extras?

Should I just drop all healthy extras, a and b's when doing sp?

Have you got an old book? A lot of the info in them is now out of date (incorrect syns, some HEXBs are no longer HEXBs etc).

Oh no! The book I've got is Food Optimising. Is that totally obsolete?

I think they still call it Food Optimising, but it's a newer version with the SP info in it.

Sorry - pressed send too soon. The newer version has a very dark cover instead of the peachy / beige colour.

Maybe I can get the sp info online? What does sp stand for?

You still have 1 Hextra A and 2 Bs. And your normal Syns allowance. Although if you are trying to speed up your weight loss, keeping your Syns around 5 to 10 is a good idea. I tend to do 2 or 3 SP days a week.
If you do it continually, longer than a week it is recommended you increase your HEAs to 2.

Protein rich 'Free' foods are all P. So lean meats, quark, cottage cheese, eggs, pulses (beans, peas, lentils), fish. Not fromage frais or Yoghurt.

There are some Facebook groups that have the full lists available of S&P food.

Silverbirch, that's fantastic, thank you. I thought at one point I could only have food with an 's' or 'ss', but that's not the case?

S stands for Speed fruit and veg.
P stands for Protein.

Basically eating Free food that is higher in good stuff (fibre and protein) in relation to the calories, it fills you up. True Food Optimising, I guess.

The super speedy you have heard about is just a further refinement of SP and is probably not worth worrying about unless you have access to all the up to date materials.
But it basically means there are some Healthy Extra B that are better 'speedier' choices. So choosing 2 Ryvita rather than 4 or cooked blackcurrant rather than cooked apples. But it is a refinement to the SP day rather than an essential.

Thank you. I'll see how I go with that! How many days should I do it for? Will one day help any or pointless?

I think one day is well worth trying, particularly if your weight loss is slower than you like. It's also a good thing to do following a day where you ate more than you wish you had. Last weekend I had 2 meals in restaurants on the Saturday, and although I tried to make sensible choices, I followed up on the Sunday with an SP day.
They are good to do on any day where you feel super focussed, the 2 HE B choices are quite helpful too.
Try 1 day and see how it is for you, if you feel not too deprived you could then work an odd day or two in to your weekly plan whenever you want a boost to your weight loss.
