Been trying to do SW at home but don't have enough information of all the free foods healthy extras etc and need more motivation, so was thinking about joining a group.
I can find out when and where the group is on but doesn't say how long they last and need to fit in around DS at college (autism, can't let himself in house alone), how long does a meeting last please? And do you get weighed in front of everybody and the whole group knows your weight? I'm scared! Never been overweight in my life until I hit my forties and mortified at my weight now (13s 7). I used to be a size 6/8 Goddammit!!

They weigh you in the corner of the room and don't disclose your weight to others - but may discuss your loss/gain at the discussion part. I've only been to one meeting and it lasted about an hour and a half - but you can always excuse yourself at any time. Some people go straight after the weigh in but I've been told it's best to stay when you're new as then you pick up loads of tips and motivation.

The meetings will last about an hour, but you don't have to stay for the whole thing.

You get weighed first - and you queue up, so person behind you may hear your weight loss - but they don't broadcast it. No one will know your actual weight except the person weighing you.

You can also just go to the weigh in, but not stay for the meeting at all - which I used to do 9/10 times. I found the meetings a bit tedious after a while tbh.

Our Leader did go round everyone at the meeting, and either welcome you, or chat about how you did that week. But again, you won't have to say your weight.

Our meeting is usually about an hour and a half but it's a very popular group so lots of people to get through Image Therapy. Does your group have a FB group? We share loads of help & ideas on ours.

You'll need to arrive just before the stated time on your first one - and you'll be there the full hour and a half. The consultant needs to talk you through it while existing members are being weighed and then the group will run and you'll be weighed right at the end.

Next week should be a good week to join btw as it's a taster, so people will have brought food to try and be swapping recipes. Smile

Of course some folk might advise you to wear lots of heavy clothes and put rocks in your pockets this week so that at your next weigh in it looks like you've lost even more than you really have Grin

Best of luck x
