Slimming world twin here-I lost that in the first week too and also suffered the same problem as you are experiencing ( I am 3 weeks in) I thought the masses of vegetables and fruit would keep me right but it was not to be.....
My solution has been all-bran for breakfast every morning and I put some berries or chopped up pears with it to keep it varied. Also giving Crunchy bran a whirl and that seems OK so far. Drink water-lots of it! It makes for many visits to the ladies through the day but I suppose I am racking up more activity in the day so sort of a bonus!

Finally,I have spent quite a few syns on prunes, figs and dates and these have probably helped too... I also believe scan-bran helps but it takes some getting used to!

Apologies too- I dont know much about IBS - maybe can't go very high fibre? Other netters might have experience and your Consultant could maybe help?

We weren't told about constipation at the meetings it must be very common

loopy: my SW Consultant said that people often say to her that scan bran should be available on prescription.
2 scan bran a day for a few days, and you will not be constipated.

Thankyou Dannyglick , are bran scan only available through SW? I've had some bran flakes this morning so hopefully it will help ..We should be told about this problem when we start SW as its very common

loopy, scan bran are available to buy in group.
I have also at times bought in Holland and Barrett, although I read recently on here that H&B were not selling them anymore: don't know if that's countrywide, as I've not looked in my local store for a while.
Don't know if Holland and Barrett sell them online.
Have a look on the SW website for some nice scan bran cake recipes, which make them palatable!
They are very dry, loopy, but fine dipped in soup, etc, and as well as curing your constipation, they are good for making you feel full.

This sounds very familiar! I've been on SW 3 weeks now and after a great first week I didn't lose anything in week 2 because of constipation. Scan bran did the job for me - I have mine soaked overnight in milk that has a teaspoon of Options hot choc powder dissolved in it, then I put strawberries on top when I eat it for breakfast to get my 1/3 speed. I find scan bran is vastly improved by chocolate like most things really.

Hi I suffer fromantic ibs too and just finished my first week at SW. The first 5 days I was constipated but my body got back on track, I guess it might be just an adjustment period.

I'm 6 weeks in and now hitting some constipation too - either that or my switch in diet means I only need to poo every few days rather than daily... Anyone know if this is a thing?

I suffered from constipation for almost 2 years after giving birth. The only thing that practically saved me was oatbran porridge with 2 table spoons of cracked flaxseed seeds and one 1 table spoon of hemp seeds daily. Also great for the skin!

I think it has something to do with the fact that our bodies are getting so much more goodness than previohsly and there is not as much 'waste' as our bodies are able to use more of the goodness etc x
