Trying out SP for a week

Any tips?

I've lost 1 stone 11 since April but slowed down over the last few weeks so my consultant has suggested I give it a go.

She said no free foods unless speed or protein, 1xA and 2xB but if I want pasta I can syn fresh pasta and I can syn oven chips instead of sw free chips.

Will using syns for fresh pasta etc work or would I be better to avoid them?

I would avoid them, it's not really the spirit of the plan if you syn them. You can have butternut squash chips instead of potato ones. Just pile up with lots more veg.

Also, good to remember that quark is a P food so you can use that instead of yogurt, which isn't.

You can't have fresh pasta or oven chips they are not S or P

My consultant said you can if they are out of your syn allowance so encouraged us to have them once a week as she found it made people stick to the plan more strictly

So confusing!

You can put any pasta potato anything in the other column if sticking to it long term (week or more) but if you are having pasta etc you are not really doing SP To be told to have something with Syns (fresh pasta) instead of something without (normal pasta) is bonkers.

No wonder members find it confusing when consultants make stuff up :(

So if something is normally free then don't eat the syn version of it in its place?

I asked tonight And she said the odd jacket potato won't harm if I wanted one but I didn't mention eating one just asked about the fresh pasta

Just getting my head round it!

Lightening my consultant has told me the same you can use your syns for anything. So if you want mccains oven chips you can because they have a syn value, but you can't eat potatoes because they don't therefor you can't syn/restrict them. I suppose the amount of synned chips you could have wouldn't make that much difference. I personally wouldn't much prefer chocolate
Although I do have muller Greek yogurts which have half a syn per pot, but I'm sensible and have maybe one a day when doing sp.

Really sorry but that is wrong if that was true think.of a banana it's a great Free snack esp peeled and frozen. It's not allowed on SP day as bananas aren't Speed. I know I will roll it in a choc options (1 and a half syns) freeze it then I can have it on SP as part of my Syns (1 1/2 syns). The syns in oven chips are for the fat they are coated with the potato part is still not Free on SP. That's how it was explained to us in training no non SP foods if you want to do it properly. And if you don't want to do it properly don't have the second B.

That is what I would have thought. If you are working out syns for something you are asked if it includes a free food and they work that into its syn value.

You don't have to do a full week of S/P, you can mix it up. So if you really wanted pasta I would just make it a regular EE day.
