Slimming World

Does Slimming World actually work?? Struggling to see how vs calorie intake???

Struggling with understanding it really, after months of yoyo dieting on calorie controlled stuff I know how many calories pretty much everything has in it. And we are very lucky to mainly rear our own meat, grow fruit and veg, have chickens etc. So ingredients in free foods is really easy for me and I find the slimming world rules easy to follow. All I have really done is cut down/out bread and cheese, change how I cook things and cut off the fat. But I know that by eating two poached eggs on unbuttered wholemeal toast (1 slice), a plain jacket potatoe and salad for lunch, and steak and roasted vegetables this eve, alongside lots of fruit as snacks I've exceeded the 1200 daily calories advised for me by calorie controlled diets to lose weight? Am I missing something?
I'm only on week 2 and have lost 4lbs, but wonder if that is largely water retention.

It works for me. I have no idea how, I have calorie counted in the past too, but I am eating healthily and never hungry so I am not going to question it.
I got to target though last year and stopped following get the plan. Managed to keep my weight under control until I went on holiday. Now I am back on plan.

Good luck!

The third as speed foods really helps too

It's a combination of lower calorie, low fat, lower sugar (apart from natural), plus food combining (the speed), simpler proteins, less processed food - it's the WHOLE thing.

I lost 5 stone in 10 months. Now a few months into roughly maintaining. I've spent 20 years significantly bigger than average.

Feeling a little guilty as last week was a tricky one with my birthday, my dniece and dnephews birthdays and fathers day.

If you have 1/3 plate veg alongside the mega carb portions and stick to lean meat it really works.

There are always the odd maintain for no reason weeks and to compensate the weeks were you do better than expected.

Whats important to watch is you do keep a syn record, you don't pinch the buttered crusts off the kids sandwiches and you do eat things that you enjoy and satisfy you.

My daily intake is 1400 calories approx. it's calorie deficit pure and simple. But it's slow for me. If I want to lose faster, SW says cut the carbs and do EESP. So I eat less carbs and I lose weight faster.

There's no magic. It's just a method.

It's all about filling up on speed foods, so you are too full to eat large amounts of the free food.

I don't want to insult anyone, but I think it's a fab diet for gluttons like me, knowing I can eat all the food I want from a pretty extensive list just by making a few tweaks to how its cooked and stuff. Almost 2.5 stone in 5 months, although ground to a halt as I've moved into a new house that's currently without a kitchen or fridge. but still trying to stay on plan as much as possible! Jxx
