What do you think, is it best to buy cheap, because they will only wreck it by jumping on it, spilling things on it, etc, and they are much lighter than an adult so won't find a cheap mattress as uncomfy as we would, or is it best to get the best one you can afford because their bones/backs are developing?

I know I can avert the spillage problem with a waterproof cover - the jumping problem I am not sure how easy it will be to discourage! DS is 18 months now. Mostly sleeps in my bed, thinking of getting him his own.

i got as good a mattress as we could afford and that was quite cheap at the time. the mattress has survived spillages and bouncing and only now 7 years on does it need repaced. 9yo DS is complaining he is not comfy.
