hate the thought of drugging my kids, but everything else had failed.

Sweetheart, You have enough on right now, and you and children need sleep, however you can get it. Is it any wonder they're having disturbed nights, given what's happening to you all right now.

Please don't feel guilty. They will be better for their rest.

we've used piriton b4 now for their eczema. dd2 is so lovely today after sleeping 10hours instead of 7-8.

You see, the drug will do her good.

Take what help you can right now.

Thinking of you.

misdee....i used valegan on my older 2 ....from under 6 months....the dose i was prescribed was for a 6 year old...the chemist refused to dispense it- so my GP marched into the pharmacy and made sure i got the prescription.

Looking back i had all the guilt you feel.... but noone can survive without sleep.

silly question here...but have you tried melatonin

Don't feel guilty Misdee. Dd2 was perscribed phenergan at 1 year old because she was only sleeping on average 2 hours a night and I was exhausted.

I didn't have anywhere near the amount of probs that you have at the mo, and I couldn't cope with no sleep.

You are doing the right thing. At a time like this you need as much proper sleep as you can get to keep your strength up for your family.

many of us with Autistic kids have been prescribed it (you can buy it on ebay though!0

It's basically a synthetic form of the 'Body Clock' Hormone....

Please CAT me and i would love to send you some...you are going through so much.

It's NOT a DRUG....it's used in the U.S for Jet Lag.....i will tell you more if you are interested...you know how long my posts can get

(P.s....now i know what has been going on for you and peter...i feel my whiges about DLA are pretty tedious! )

let me help you!

loos good, probably not good for dd1 as it could increase dreams and atm she is having bad dreams connected to what peter is going through.

does it come in liquid form? might ask the gp about that for dd2. as have tried controlled crying, puyttinmg her back to bed, my bed, spare room, etc etc. the day seems to start at 4-5am for her.

what's she like getting to sleep?

we have capsules....and i simply tip the contents into supper drink....my boys cannot taste it....

liquid is on ebay...i can do a link if you need to.

my boys have NOT had problems with dreams...infact leigh who was the restless sleeper now sleeps soundly...reckons he doesn't dream.

When i gave it to tom the first night he fell asleep withing 20 mins....i was so shocked...now he doesn't fall asleep in the chair- but will be asleep within 10 mins of going to bed.

i've taken it myself quite alot- and i am prone to nightmares/vivid dreams...and honestly i seem to suffer far less if i've taken melatonin.

I will post a thread on the SN section for you to find out what the others think about the dream situation with melatonin.

My gut instinct is to try it once and see how it goes....hard to 'guinea pig yor DD...but i am certain it would help)

Yes, I have been prescribed it for my daughter since she was about 4 months. They use to use it alot more than they do now but I found it at least got me a a little sleep and you need that to keep going. The only problem I had was after a couple of weeks, it lost its effectiveness and we were back to square one. It is a short term solution really but it can be a great help.
