Hello!
My 11 month old insists on waking anywhere between 4am and 4.30am every day. He wakes up happy and sings his little heart out, then gets grumpy because M & D don't want to play. He gets home from nursery at 6.30pm having had a 30 min sleep in the car - should I be putting him to bed later than 7pm? we have tried all sorts to get him to go back to sleep to no avail! Can anyone help? I'm so tired!!! x

This is so strange. I was just about to put the exact same post up. My DS is 11.1 month old and has just started thinking 4.30 is the fun time to be up!!! I tried him in a sleeping bag last night, because I thought he was getting too cold and still 4.30? I'm thinking it must just be teething, as he is drooling like crazy....... I hope to god this is just a phase and we can get back to the 6am waking :-(

I know how you feel burtie2u, I thought it might be the cold too. I feel like I've exhausted everything else (hunger, poos, teething etc) and gotten no-where! I'm going to try a later bedtime tonight as I think the 30 mins sleep in the car on the way home from nursery might have something to do with it!
I'm praying it's just a phase too

Hi there have you tried the wake to sleep method it's in the BW's book and basically you set your alarm for an hour before they are due to wake then you go in and stroke their cheek gently, jostle them gently, or rubt their belly you're not waking them as such but stirring them to semi-and consciousness. The idea is to disrupt their sleep pattern and you need to do it for at least three nights in a row. Good luck

Are you sure that your LO is not hungry?

Perhaps you could offer some porridge (or something similar) when he gets home from nursery. If it was me, I would then let them have a good crawl around before putting them to bed too! Since my DS has been moving, he sleeps much better and longer!

oh yes put him to bed later...try extending his bedtime 15 minutes each night untill the time yo want him to go to bed....4am is a crap time for mummy & daddy...work out how many hours he roughly sleeps, sounds like he's a 9 hour sleeper, mine DD1 is a 10 hour but DD2 is a 13 hour sleeper...then work out what time is good for you to get up in the morning. It could mean he has a late bedtime but if you can sacrifice this for a longer lie in bed everyday it's up to you....Good luck
