Very active baby keeps getting stuck in cot - what to do?

Hi

I have a very active 6 month old who keeps getting himself stuck in weird positions in the cot, which results in me having to rescue him several times a night.

I have tried a sleeping bag but he just rolled continuously round the cot until he was totally wound up and wouldn't sleep ( I also tried tucking the excess in the bottom of the mattress but he just got really tangled).

The only way he will asleep is with the blankets really tight and my hand resting on his chest - to stop him rolling- until he falls asleep. Has anyone used those sleep positioners? Did they work? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

We have a very active sleeper who used to wake himself up by banging his head on the bars. We solved this by letting him sleep in a travle cot as the sides give. Now he is 16 months he is slowing down and next month when his sister moves into her new room he will go in her cotbed.

I don't know how active he is or what is waking him up exactly but my DS was moving and getting stuck/banging his head against wooden cot bars so I rolled up some towels and put them all around the edge of the cot underneath the sheet as a kind of cot bumper. This stopped him from getting too close to the edges and bashing himself. I thought this was safe as it wasn't able to fall on his face and it wasn't very high up. HTH

2nd rolled up towels - although if its any consolation ds is 2 1/2 and he still frequently ends up upside down in his cot - one of the reasons he is still in cot and not in a bed.
