1 year old dd and controlled crying- an option?

Currently dd and I cosleep and I have to breastfeed her at night still. Now that she is one I want to make a few changes and slowly introduce her to the cot and away from the night feeds.
Is controlled crying a way of doing this and if so, whats the best way of going about it.

No, controlled crying is a last resort having tried gentler and sympathetic approaches to making changes which for her are extreme.

I'd concentrate on the cot first (and expect to get up a few times) and then try to get her off night feeds.

My ds woke me up regularly for a 5 a.m. boob until when he was 18 months old, I just got sick of it. And let him grizzle until he fell back to sleep. He sleeps fine, now. I probably shouldn't have let him get away with it for so long.

Controlled crying is not some kind of torture. They get over it.

I just tried controlled crying with my 10 month dd and it didn't work. We had the same situation - had been co-sleeping and feeding to sleep and wanted to move her to the cot. She cried for 6 nights and then we stopped. Still don't know what the solution is. We've gone back to our old ways. Will be watching your thread to see if anyone has any ideas! But my experience might be another argument against controlled crying. I thought three nights of hell might be worth it to get us both a good night's sleep but it was not to be. Good luck!
