When to start with duvet and pillow?

I am about to move my DD (age 22 months) into a new (bigger!) room and bed. She'll be going onto a matress on the floor to start and then to a single bed.

She is currently in a growbag and does do a small amount of moving about in her cot during the night. I'm thinking that I'll introduce a duvet and pillow at the same time as it'll be just like mummy and daddy's bed (which she loves!). However, am worried she'll end up either caught under the duvet or with it totally off! Was thinking of putting her in a fleecey sleepsuit and putting the duvet on round the other way with the sides tucked under the mattress. Anyone have thoughts on any of this?

Also, anyone know of recommended age to start with a duvet and pillow and what tog it should be? 2.5 like the growbags?

I put DD into a bed with pillow and quilt when she was 21 months. She didn't really go with it and is now back in the grobag . Tucking doesn't really work because once they get to two they start to get nightmares and for some reason having their feet covered tightly makes them worse (or so I'm told - DD has only ever had two and she was out of bed when we got in there so I don't know whether she was tucked in beforehand or not).

We did use blankets as well as sheets - that sort of worked for a bit but blankets are hard to get these days!

We started DD with a pillow when she was about 2.8 at her insistence - she kept nicking mine! But my worry was finding a thin enough one - her neck was at a really bad angle on a regular feather pillow - they're too high. Then we found Ikea do very cheap and thin pillows for front-sleeping adults - they're ideal.

Just moved to a duvet now as she's too big for the wonderful grobags (she's 3.3) but it's a bit hit and miss. She often seems to rotate herself 180 degrees, head at foot of bed, lying on top of duvet, so something's going wrong. Then she wakes up squawking about being cold. Looking forward to when she sorts this one out.

duvets and pillows are ok from 12 months. The recommended maximum tog for a cot bed is 4.5tog and the maximum for a single bed is 10.5tog. When dd went into a big bed she started with 4.5tog but as it got colder she moved to 10.5tog - she went into a single bed at just under the age of 2. She used a normal adult sized flattish pillow from 1 year.

My DS had a cot quilt and toddler pillow from 12 months

He's now 2.5YO and we have just bought him a normal sized single quilt and an adult pillow to go on his cotbed as I think the Mothercare one was far too thin it was wearing away I think so defo wouldn't reccommend buying one!

Anyway we went for a 7.5tog quilt for DS
