Sleep

Did your DC sleep better with a duvet and pillow?

DS is 13mo and going through a bit of a bad patch with his sleeping.

Friend told me that they've given their 18mo DS a duvet and pillow now and that has vastly improved his sleep. Has this worked for anyone else?

Considering it but wondering whether my DS is a bit young at 13 months...

What about a grobag?

DS has refused all summer to have a sleeping bag.

He is now in a big bed and has a little quilt and loves pulling it up. (Jan baby so err 18mths?)

While he was in his cot, I just let him go to sleep without his grobag then put a blanket over him.

I think it was more that the grobag was annoying him BEFORE he went to sleep (couldn't move around, kept tripping over in the cot).

He has had a pillow for ages though.

DS (16 months) can turn himself through 180 degrees in the night so I don't think he would cope with a pillow and duvet.

DS is in gro-bag at the moment, does get a bit wriggly in the night - twizzling himself around and that - but he does love cushions! Any time he comes across one on the floor he puts his head down onto it and snuffles in. Maybe he's trying to tell us something...

My mum presented me with a duvet (used on older other nieces and nephews) for my DS when we went to visit when he was about 13 months and he slept fine...back home and back to gro-bags and he slept terribly. I thought perhaps the duvet might crack it and was right! We haven't looked back since.

I also bought one of the Ikea pillows for cots as have an Ikea cot and it fits well, sometimes he snuggles right into it but mostly, he just sleeps with it touching the top of his head. He has always wriggled up the bed, not down so the pillow stops him from bashing his head on the bars at the top...which he managed before getting the pillow, despite the bumper.

Not sure how he will fare as the weather gets colder.

DS1 was def better once in a bed with a duvet (moved him when he was 2.6).
DS2 is a shockingly bad sleeper, hated grobags, hates his cot, throws off blankets, so might try a duvet, though not sure he is old enough for a toddler bed at this age...

Waswondering I like that idea, will try that with DS2.
