At that age - just carry on. Get as much sleep and rest as you can in whatever way you, and worry about patterns and routines and where she sleeps in a few weeks at the earliest. It won't be long, honest

i would put her down to bed before she sleps or she ll get into the pattern of only sleeping in your arms, and you want her to be happy in her room.
make sure she is awake when you put her to bed, play some music or mobile and turn the lights out as if se light they will want to play, i did this with my dd fro she was that young and she is an angel to go to bed

So is my DS, and I didn't start any of that until he was 6 months

Second the ProvincialLady - there's a lot of stuff talked about habits, and it can really blight the first few months if you let it. Some children will settle well on their own quite young, and some don't - if yours doesn't, just do what you need to, and then introduce changes later - dd was breastfed to sleep until she was about 10 months old, when she gave it up herself. She goes to sleep brilliantly now, and has done for ages. If you want to put her down asleep, sometimes it helps to have warmed up her bed first with a hot water bottle, so she doesn't get woken by cold sheets.

Agree. My dd1 was a nightmare to get to sleep so I did all the 'wrong' stuff as it was the only way e.g. rocking, pushing in pram, driving, feeding to sleep. Anything that worked. From about 1 she suddenly started having a 2 hour nap in the day time and sleeping 7-7 and we've not looked back. So don't worry too much about all the books and advice that suggest you will be setting them up with bad habits for life and they will have to be rocked to sleep at age 30!Load of rubbish in my experience. That said I am thinking of starting a thread on the best way to get babies to sleep as my dd2 (4 mths) is also a nightmare to settle and I don't have the luxury of being able to drive/push etc etc with dd1 to look after as well......Am so jealous of people who get sleepers!
