Our DD did exactly the same, infact she's still doing a month later, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

We might have to do controlled crying if things don't improve soon. She ends up in bed with us at some point every night and getting her off to sleep is a nightmare. You have my sympathies.

gradual retreat? sounds like if she could go to sleep on her own before shouldn't take too long...
(ps oh dammit was just wondering if holidays were going to make DD's sleeping even worse...)

We tried the controlled crying but DD jumped up and down in her cot and was sick! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! Any other suggestions anyone? Lovelysongbird - any joy?

oh hi i missed this thread, i was desperetate fro advice the other night so i also posted it in chat, well
last night dd went off to bed great, we thought oh thats good she back in her routine, but tonight its taken her an hour a nd a half to get off to sleep.
i left her to cry for 1 mins in the end as there was NOTHING i could do.

i did feel terrible leaving her to cry,as i dont want to, but i know thats what she needs me to do.

sitting with her rubbing her back etc hasnt worked.

but was did go to sleep about 945pm tonight.

tb how old is your dd?

She is one next week. I think I might wait until the evenings are a bit cooler - hot nights, milk and jumping babies are not a good mix!

How did you get on tonight lovelysongbird?

what's a bit of sick? I just used to rub my dd down and lie her down again to sleep - too tired to do anything else

If it was a bit of sick maybe but this was alot of sick I'm afraid. Aside from DD, the carpet had to be cleaned, the sheet changed and the cot wiped down. I could smell it as soon as I opened her door!

oh yuk!

Do the gently style stuff - gradual withdrawal etc? Sit by the cot - hand on baby, shh shh. No eye contact or talking. Takes ages for some but perhaps it is gentler depite being drawn out?

DD has a cold so don't feel it would be fair to do it tonight. Husband has agreed to do it with me starting this Friday.

Will try the gradual retreat - thanks for the suggestion lovelysongbird and gagarin.

I think our biggest problem is that DD's bedroom is off of ours so I have always fed her in our bed and then put her in her room. Probably started bad habbits?

Last night she was asleep by 8pm but I think she was really tired as she was coming down with this cold. Tonight she finally went down at about 9.50pm!

Well done lovelysongbird for sticking with it - 10mins is pretty good!

May the force be with you all!!!

oh dear songbird! I guess it might be one step forward two steps back for a bit?

DD didn't have a sleep in the day today so she was pretty tired - husband still had to lay with her for a bit though before she would go down. Woke up for more milk after an hour but went back to sleep pretty quickly.

She has started to get really upset as soon as we even take her in her room now.

Am not looking forward to begining the gradual withdawing at the weekend. How are things your end?
