Hi everyone,

First time mum here 👋🏻

My little girl is 9 weeks old but has no bedtime routine. She used to sleep in her crib really well, but the last few weeks she just will not settle in there and ends up sleeping in my bed with me! She was be fast asleep on me, I try to put her down in the crib, very slowly at times but no luck, she always wakes up. Can try get her to go back off by rocking her, shhing her, having my hand on her, or having her Ewan dream sheep on but nothing works! Minute I get her out and lay in my bed with her, she falls asleep!! Don't get time wrong, I love the cuddles and she sleeps longer when in with me, but it's not ideal and she needs to sleep in her own bed.

We are moving soon and she will then have her cotbed (no room for it at the moment) at the end of the month/east next month.

Is it worth waiting till we move to start a routine with her new bed? Or try get into a routine now?

What routines did you have for your little ones at this age? I can't bath her every day as she has skin like me that doesn't do so good being cleaned everyday🤦🏻‍♀️

Still in 4th trimester, barely knows she's separate from you and it's biologically normal to feel safe and sleep better close to you. So look up the safe 7 and carry on.
The idea of a baby sleeping separately in their own space is a very western concept.

4th trimester, plus 8 week regression and growth spurt!

All things to read up on. Almost impossible to have a routine for a baby that should really still be inside you!

she needs to sleep in her own bed

Why do you think that?

@TitsOot4Xmas

she needs to sleep in her own bed

Why do you think that?

Because there's not much space in mine and my partners bed, as the way I have to sleep when she's in our bed doesn't do my back any good (I have arthritis which makes things worse) . I'm also a back sleeper which just doesn't really work if she's in my bed, so she needs to sleep in her own, not mine.

No advice either but my 9 week old has just started doing the same the past five days or so.... following with interest and just hoping it's a quick regression!

Partner on sofa? Bedside crib?

Does this cotbed have a drop side? Or a side you can just not put on? Because it seems that a cosleeper cot is the best way here.

DD3 is almost 3months (you stop counting weeks with your 3rd Grin) and she sleeps in our bed. I have tried to put her in her cot at first and totally gave up! I have to sleep!

My partner isn't able to sleep on the sofa the whole time, we both have back issues so it just isn't an option.

We don't have the room for a bedside sleeper but she has started sleeping in her crib again! We are moving beginning of next month and she'll be going into a cotbed, but it isn't a drop side. But she will be closer to me than what she is now (other side of the room at the moment)

Your baby is so little to have a routine. Maybe get a blow up bed so your partner can sleep on that if he can't sleep on the sofa?
Other than that, things that might work: heating the cot up with a hot water bottle before putting the baby in there, put something that smells of you in there, swaddle, place the baby body first and head last in the cot to avoid startling them, white noise.
Although I did try all of those with my first daughter and none worked. She slept in bed with me for the first 6 months, after that she slept in her cot in her room for all her naps and at night.
