Sleep

Is this PND or am I just knackered?

Back story... 3 year old twins who wake at least once per night (each) for a wee/drink/to see where mummy is/get in our bed plus a 6 month old rubbish sleeper/bed thief. Twins are typical three year olds -Noisy, impatient, demanding and baby is a cling-on.
Current situation... I am snappy, angry, sad and overwhelmed. I swear a lot under my breath, slam doors, am a bitch to my ever-patient husband and basically just ‘get through‘ each day. Feel like I’m treading water with someone asking me to recite the alphabet backwards in French whilst juggling and playing a guitar simultaneously. Wine no longer helps, just gives me a headache after one glass. Is this PND or just a normal reaction to my insane home life? How can I stop being such a shouty mum? I was a lovely playful Mum before number 3 came along... should I go to the drs?

I would definitely go to the drs if you're concerned about yourself, you deserve to be listened to! Sleep exhaustion is terrible, it's really hard to differentiate between that and PND. They can be intertwined! I hope you're ok.

I had PND and felt like there was no light at the end of the tunnel and dreaded going to bed at night as the next day would come and I'd have to do it all over again. Genuinely felt like life would never get better and I had the feeling of sheer panic to have to look after the baby and there was no way out of this. Terrible time.

@DoveGreylove thanks for replying. Did you stay on the anti-ds long term or was it easy to wean off them?

@Bettyboop82 I didn't take anti depressants, just counselling

I ask myself this question daily too, I just have a no sleeping 7m old not the twins as well! I started by talking to a HV who was very understanding and has encouraged me to talk to gp. Havent worked up the courage to do that yet but I'm getting there slowly, something has to change!
Is there someone you can talk to outside of the situation? And anyone who can help so you can have a few hours off? I know its easier said than done esp at the moment but it will help a little

Another option is to skip the doctors completely and see if there is a free counselling service set up nearby. We have one here for pre and post natal depression that’s set up as a charity. You don’t have to go to your doctors and have it on your record if that is what you are worried about.
