3 week old awake for hours

My DD is almost 3 weeks old. At night she'll go down about 11pm-11:45 and sleep till 3ish. The problem is that when she's fed at 3am she won't go back to sleep. Today she's been awake since 3am and only just nodded off now at 7am. Tried everything, bouncing, rocking, dummy, nappy cha ge, more feeding (shes bottle fed)
and white noise nothing worked. Please tell me this will get better? I'm beginning to dread night time and suffer with anxiety.

Yes it will get better, she's still very tiny and hasn't learnt to differentiate night and day yet. Good luck

OP I could have rewritten your exact post. DS will be 4 weeks on Friday and last night he barely slept between 11pm and 5am. We know that because DS was born by c section, he has a lot of mucous and congestion and some nights he just cannot lie flat as he finds it hard to breathe and wakes himself up snorting. He’s also had some reflux so we try to keep him upright for a good 30 mins after a feed, otherwise he is very uncomfortable. Could either of these be an issue for your DD? Is she awake and alert or does she seem distressed?

I’ve no real advice but just wanted you to know you’re not alone. I’ve also found that when DS is very unsettled, he only wants to be on me. I’ve been reading a lot about the fourth trimester which makes sense. Hugs.

@shefliesonherownwings no she wasn't distressed just awake and alert then I think she got overtired.

I think this is pretty normal tbh it will get better!

Are you able to catch up on sleep during the day?

Is she sleeping during the day? When you say she's not sleeping at night - is she happy in her cot or does she need to be held?

Sorry, just saw that she's not distressed. Any chance she might just fall asleep on her own if she's just lying there happy and you're quiet and lights are off?

Sorry just catching up. She'll lay quietly for a bit but then gets upset. I'm thinking she might have reflux, going to ring GP later. Currently been up with her since 1am. She's asleep on me now so hoping I can put her down soon.

@apileofballyhoo yes I had a phone appointment with GP this afternoon. She's prescribed baby gaviscon but the prrscriptwont be ready to collect till tomorrow so we'll see how tonight goes.
