Hi guys! New here but always look to mumsnet for answers haha, I'm having not so much a problem but bit curious if anyone else's baby is the same, my LO is 6 months on the 1st May, she cat naps during the day and she is bedded between 6-7 everynight. The weird thing about her is that she doesn't wake up till 10am in the morning, she has her last dream feed at 10/11 and that's her till 9 sometimes 10am the next day, from what I've read on here everyone else's baby's are up for the day around 7am, just wondering if I should start getting her up more at that time and of anyone else's baby's sleep later like her.... Thanks x

Also forgot to mention she never makes her wake windows she can only do about and hour and a half before she becomes mental lol and even if she's had a two hour nap it's the same. She just seems a really sleepy girl to me....

How many hours a day is she actually awake? Is she gaining weight well? Do you mean she’s six months on the first of November? It sounds like she’s sleeping a lot, from what you’ve said.

She's awake about 6 hours out of the day it's not that long! Shes totally fine within herself, plenty wet and dirty nappies and she's gaining weight fine, she's just started teething but she was sleepy before that anyway but now she's alot more grumpy, yes sorry meant November lol she was born 1st of May hahaha baby brain still going strong I see!

Six hours in total sounds very little! But it she’s happy and healthy maybe just enjoy the breaks?! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Have you spoken to your health visitor?

I know people think I'm mad because she's a good sleeper but is there such a thing as too much sleep, I always had the idea that top much sleep is bad for them or there's something wrong as such, yes shes been of no help to be honest and haven't seen her in months... Useless.

She’s either absolutely fine but just needs loads of sleep, like, loads more than most babies, (18 hours in a day is a lot! Especially for a 6 month old) or possibly there’s something underlying.

If she seems happy and healthy, gaining weight, meeting milestones, alert & engaged when she’s awake, then I’d just let her be. If you’re worried I would be seeking medical advice, if not from the health visitor then the GP - if only to put your mind at rest.

Sleep need on children varies enormously. There can be 8-10 hours a day difference between the a month of sleep had by a high need and low need baby. Apparently 10-18 hours is normal for a 3-6 month old, dropping to nearer 14 hours after 6 months. If she seems happy and healthy then don't worry and you can always call your health visitor for reassurance if needed x

My son is now nearly 4 years old but was the same then he hit 10 months old and was awake every 10mins , he just would not sleep for loneed than 10mins a time. Then a bottle 1 year old he starated to sleep in again. He goes through sleeping loads for a few months then unsettle. I think he just needs more sleep than others children . Each person needs deferent sleep pattern. He's back to sleeping in till 10 30 at the moment.
