Sleep

2.5 year old not going to sleep until 9pm

Hello,

Unsure of what to do, hoping someone can impart some words of wisdom!
My 2.5 year old goes to bed at 7pm no issues but sings/chats until 9pm when she falls asleep. She then wakes up at 6, sometimes slightly earlier. She naps at around 1pm for 1.5 hours. I’m just worried about 9pm bedtime, should I be?

She’s ready for a nap in the afternoon as she’s normally quite tired and happy to go down. I’ve tried earlier naps/shorter nap but it doesn’t make a difference. With a shorter nap she wakes up and has a tantrum as she’s still exhausted. Also, it doesn’t matter what time she goes to sleep, she has never slept past 6.30 am. So I guess what I’m asking is, is this ok or should I try and get her to sleep earlier?

It maybe a phase she is going through. With the girls at that age they were sleeping abit inconsistent. They’d go down at 7 and one would go straight to sleep and the other would be awake. They also stopped having afternoon naps in the day and they’d only have one if they were super tied or fell asleep whilst out.

You could try not giving her a nap in the day so that she’s super tired by bedtime. I’d maybe also try a new routine where the singing/chatting isn’t for so long, could you put her down at 7 and have 30 mins max of story/chatting/singing.

Thanks, yes, I think you might be right, She just seems so tired at nap time, but then again she would be if she’s not sleeping for more than 8/9 hours at night. She woke at 5.20 this morning! I’m pretty sure she’ll nap in the car this morning on the way to the park so if that’s the case the afternoon nap will be out the window!
