After some advice.

Since DD was born she's either slept with us (next to me with side cot & always safely) or in her next to me cot.

Since she was six months we tried her in her own room & cot & she does sometimes sleep a whole night in her own room, but then mostly she'll wake up and cry until she's back on bed with us (I'm fine with it but husband thinks that by now she should be sleeping in her cot every night.)

I think the problem is that for naps I'll take her upstairs & lay on the bed with her until she's asleep & she'll nap on our bed, we also do this at night (with a solid bedtime routine) she will then be transferred to her cot when we go up to bed.

As soon as DH does this she wakes up & cries & ends up in our bed. She's also teething.

Any advice on how to get her to sleep mainly in her own room would be great... it's causing arguments & totally draining as she's sometimes awake until the early hours. DH thinks I'm too soft as I don't mind her being in our bed as long as she feels safe/happy etc plus I can't listen to her cry until she can't catch her breath!

Thank you

I think perhaps some sleep training...lots of avenues you could explore. Also try her in her cot just for naps to start with - get her used to the cot. I also found doing bedtime routine etc in the bedroom helped and allowing her time in her bedroom in the day so that she gets used to the surroundings. Although remember sleeping with you will always be preferable so if you want her in her own room you would need to sleep train j think which could mean some tears and sleepless nights but might be worth it in the end?

Could you try comforting her while she's in the cot? She will cry, but no suggestion that you don't comfort her.

To solve this she needs to fall asleep in her cot, not be moved once asleep.
