Sleep

6 months old and only falls asleep whilst feeding

Hello!
I’m sure there’s posts similar to this but couldn’t find anything for this age. I’ve been driving myself insane with google searches and now don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong!

My just turned 6 month old slept like a dream until his 3rd jabs and since then has been waking two or three times each night. I thought he was clearly starving because he has good feeds at each wake and then falls back to sleep on me (whilst feeding) and I then transfer him back into his cot, but now I’m not sure as certain things I’ve read said that they shouldn’t be hungry overnight at this age.

During the day he will nap for a maximum of 30 minutes! This is an improvement from a few weeks ago when it was only 20 minutes. I’ve been putting on his owl that plays nursery rhymes and has lights at each nap so he hears it playing as he falls to sleep (again, on me!) to see if the sound of that makes him realise it’s time to sleep but as soon as I put him in awake he just stares at the owl and has zero interest in falling asleep.

Bedtime is also a problem, he’ll go to sleep between 18:30-19:30 depending on signs of tiredness (and if he’ll fall asleep) but then wakes 45ish minutes later and then wakes up and is wide awake and then hasn’t been properly falling asleep until 21:00/21:30.

Does anyone have any tips? I’m so confused! He screams when he’s left in the cot awake and I can’t deal with the heartbreaking cries. I love breastfeeding and the closeness of it but I feel as though this wouldn’t be happening if I’d formula fed instead.

Thank you in advance.
