Sleep

Awake/nap times for a 7mo

Hello, my DS is 7.5mo now and sleep has never been his specialist subject. Hes always napped for 32min exactly so has 3 or 4 naps usually every 2 hours but is always tired before bed.

Lately hes been sleeping just a little more and staying awake just a little more by his own accord, so not falling asleep predictably in his pram but lasting that bit longer. Hes still very tired before bed though. So I am wondering whether to increase his morning awake time. He rubs his eyes after 2 hours in the morn which is why i usually put him down. Any pointers would be great!

Wakes 7am
Nap 9am ish 32-45min
Nap 12.45 45 min ish
Nap 4pm ish 30min
Bed asleep by 7.30
Wakes usually 3 x a night (more atm due to teething I think)
Fed 11.30pm and somewhere between 3.30 and 5am.

My two are 9 months old but 7.5 corrected so about the same as yours. They follow pretty much the same sleep pattern as yours -30min naps at 9.30am, 1pm and 4.30pm. Bed at 6.30/7pm. I can't say this is a winning situation as they wake for no apparent reason from 2am and I can't get them back down without co-sleeping but as they've got older, they've got much happier during the day which I'm putting down to good nap timings (long gone are the days when they used to do over 2 hours each lunchtime!). Maybe push the lunchtime one out even by 15mins and see how he fares?
Also, I remember you posting quite a bit at the beginning of the year saying he was waking every half hour or so over night, so I'm pleased your situation has improved a bit!

My 7.5 month old DD has a very similar routine. All naps are rubbish too (30 mins ish) although nursery have started swaddling her for naps sometimes which makes a huge different. With the swaddle she naps anything from 1-2.5 hours and is so much happier when she wakes up. Yet she goes to sleep at night and for naps in her cot so can fall asleep independently-just wakes after 1 sleep cycle. No advice really but might be worth a try to extend naps with the swaddle...
