Baby sleeping the night off?

DS who is 3.5 months seems to have hit a sleep regression.

He used to sleep 8.30pm-1.15am and then wake up every 1.5-2hours until about 7/8am when he'd be up for the day and usually had about 3-4naps (2 long 2 short).

His sleep has been really all over the place, he has nights when he's up every hour or more and will settle back down on the breast (he's EBF) which is not bad as we co-sleep. But then he has nights where he wakes up, feeds and stays wide awake. He was up for nearly two hours straight last night then fell asleep and woke up an hour later and stayed up for a bit again. He's refusing the breast which is understandable as he can comfortably go 3+ hours between feeds so he's not hungry every hour.

And then the day rolls around and he's having long frequent naps because he has been up and down at night, he had a nap at 10am until 11.30 then woke up and has now been napping again since 1pm. He's bound to have 2 more naps today as he just gets really grumpy if he doesn't. But before he used to sleep for about 3-4 hours a day on a good day this has now been upped to about 5hours spread over 4 naps.

What do I do? I've been down with tonsillitis followed by the flu and now a raging ear infection, I can't get better and I don't think I've had more than 2hrs sleep at a time for at least the last week and I'm so tired.

Sleep changes loads in the first 12 months. I really wouldn't read too much into this, just use coping strategies to maximise your sleep.

Have you tried a dummy when baby wants to comfort suck but not feed?
